The person who started the initiative to fork Audacity has stepped down, due to IRL harassments from 4chan.

disabled people are like, hey we're the ones at risk of dying from the pandemic and the restrictions are the bare minimum precaution keeping our fellow citizens from casually killing us en masse.

This is the most ridiculous C64 demo ever and it was just released. You need to watch this. https://youtu.be/zprSxCMlECA

I think about this at least once a month: http://ignorethecode.net/blog/2015/03/07/false_dichotomies
When working on designs as a group it's really easy to start taking sides based on the options currently on the table.
More often than not there is another alternative out there though if you keep at it, which gets you the best of both worlds.
PSA: Linux distributions that use Bluez have had broken Bluetooth audio (A2DP for newly paired devices*) for around 2 weeks, due a bug: https://github.com/bluez/bluez/issues/157
(* If you previously paired a device, it works.)
Bluez is generally great & I can't remember the last time something like this happened with Bluetooth. (All software can have regressions.)
If you're hitting this issue, your options are one of:
- downgrade Bluez from 5.59 (buggy) to 5.58
- recompile with a patch
Okay y'all I did it! I finished ... well, what I set out to do with this for now. 1.0 of UI-UX-accessibility is done! FOSS folks can look at this and at least know enough to make something that'll work for blind people, to the best of my knowledge. If anyone else has anything to add, just let me know or do a PR. I really hope this is actually useful and goes somewhere. People have been asking for this so maybe it will.
There’s the code laundering thing with this new github copilot, and that’s a round about way of leveraging GPL code into proprietary software in the first place.
But also, can you imagine how unstable and bug ridden software is going to be when instead of hiring dev teams startups go with with half the number of low paid beginner devs because “All you have to do is oversee the AI”.
Then inevitably someone has to fix the unstable mess later and nobody can tell them how it’s all built. 😕
This summer I'm implementing the cool new screenshot UI in GNOME Shell. Here's my blog post about what I've done so far: https://imolodetskikh.wordpress.com/2021/06/29/gsoc-2021-gnome-shell-screenshot-ui/
a lot of people ask me how do you stick with alternative social media such as #mastodon when all of your friends are elsewhere. If you expect all of your friends to move here and mirror your interactions there it won't work.
Think of it this way, you don't interact with the same people and the same way in different commercial networks.
and think how you started using the ones you use regularly. There was some content you wanted to or needed to interact with.(1/3)
