To keep up with the current development pace, we have decided to keep releasing 2 major versions of #dartkable per year :
* one for summer solstice
* the usual one for winter solstice.

Those 2 major releases will ship new features, while the dot releases (like 3.4.1, which will be frozen next week) will only ship bug fixes.

We still need a lot of translating help for Asian and Arabic languages, the dev team being EN/FR/DE/ES.

They were so busy asking “will it scale?” they forgot to ask “does it need to scale?”

Google is a "cornerstone sponsor" of FOSDEM this year, which is being run entirely on Matrix, accessible on Android via Element, which has just been pulled from Google's Play Store. FOSDEM is in a week. This all makes perfect sense.

holy shit the Maus had a piece on how voice assistants work and actually mention the whole thing where they'll just record and store anything they THINK started with the trigger word whether it did or not, and whether or not what follows is potentially private, and that nobody really knows everything that "the companies" do with it

It's the biggest change to GNOME UX since 3.0, although it's been softened to not be nearly as disruptive. The current design looks like won't be the final one (tons of feedback this time around), but you can use it today!

Last night, I spent a bit of time looking back into the history of GNOME 3 ​

Yes, for the most part it is all quite samey - GNOME 3.10 already should be familiar enough to all current GNOME users. But there's a series of phases, or "eras" as I called them, with a clear UX/visual identity.
