I don't want you to put "BLM" in your display name. I don't want you to put "Black Lives Matter ✊🏾" in your bio.

I want you to unfollow the friend who posts racist jokes.

I want you to confront your parents when they make racist comments.

I want you to stop ignoring the racist coworker b/c they're old.

I want you to donate your time/resources/expertise to local groups making a direct impact on their communities.

I want you actually SHOW black lives that they matter while they're alive.

To keep up with the current development pace, we have decided to keep releasing 2 major versions of #dartkable per year :
* one for summer solstice
* the usual one for winter solstice.

Those 2 major releases will ship new features, while the dot releases (like 3.4.1, which will be frozen next week) will only ship bug fixes.

We still need a lot of translating help for Asian and Arabic languages, the dev team being EN/FR/DE/ES.

@claudiom It looks like the OnePlus 6T is getting upstreamed, complete with WiFi, Bluetooth, touch support, and 3D acceleration. And there's a postmarketOS port already (with dual boot support)!

Notably broken: audio. And it's a little buggy.

I guess with a PinePhone, there really isn't much reason for you to try this out? But it might become viable as a pure Linux device in the future. I'm definitely looking forward to it.

They were so busy asking “will it scale?” they forgot to ask “does it need to scale?”

Google is a "cornerstone sponsor" of FOSDEM this year, which is being run entirely on Matrix, accessible on Android via Element, which has just been pulled from Google's Play Store. FOSDEM is in a week. This all makes perfect sense.

holy shit the Maus had a piece on how voice assistants work and actually mention the whole thing where they'll just record and store anything they THINK started with the trigger word whether it did or not, and whether or not what follows is potentially private, and that nobody really knows everything that "the companies" do with it

everyone thought that yoda was a great jedi leader

but, in reality

he was just a puppet

The most powerful technology the United Federation of Planets have in Star Trek isn't phasers or warp drives but simple empathy and compassion for other people.

And yes I'm aware that this is no longer a thing in modern Star Trek but I'm going to keep the flame alive.

the internet since GDPR:
big companies collecting your data after you've given up on pop-up windows with unnecessarily complicated opt-out schemes

I'm so so so tired...

Anyway, here's a cute photo I found.

Online services in 2021: Don't tell me how you're going to preserve my data, tell me how you're going to destroy it.

I'm falling into the ergo mech world.

(Already did ergo, switched to mech, have been using QMK; now researching going totally into + .)

Thinking about an or .

looks ace, but import fees from the US to EU will probably kill it. (Worse: Possible hours of travelling via public transit in a pandemic to the "local" tax office.)

I ♥'d my MS Sculpt, but want mech keys, programmability, and something that won't die after 2 years of use.

Any recs?

The energy consumption of Bitcoin exceeds that of the Netherlands (cbeci.org/cbeci/comparisons)

Bitcoin is a crime against our habitat and thus a crime against humanity.

And finally, here's the future of GNOME: version 40. 👣

It's the biggest change to GNOME UX since 3.0, although it's been softened to not be nearly as disruptive. The current design looks like won't be the final one (tons of feedback this time around), but you can use it today!

You can download it atm from here: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-build-meta/-/jobs/1090192/artifacts/raw/image/installer.iso

Last night, I spent a bit of time looking back into the history of GNOME 3 :blobcatuwu:

Yes, for the most part it is all quite samey - GNOME 3.10 already should be familiar enough to all current GNOME users. But there's a series of phases, or "eras" as I called them, with a clear UX/visual identity.

Playing with GNOME Shell 40 touchpad gestures 🔥

The shell developers are doing a awesome job. It's incredible!

Don't worry, the actual animations aren't that slow, I just move my fingers very slowly on my trackpad. The animations match the actual movement of my fingers.
