Dear great American novelists,
Please stop telling us about how, say, your granny sat out on the porch, or how the snow piled up on the driveway.
Nothing ever really happens on porches and driveways, and if your characters can only have deep thoughts at those two spots maybe they're not that interesting after all.
Plus, in Europe we have no notion of what a porch or a driveway even looks like. OK?

Hey, kids/young adults who love standing in front of their amps & PA systems during performances:

PLEASE pay attention to the killjoys who tell you to get decent hardwearing earplugs / disposable classic foam plugs while playing.

Because living with tinnitus will start to ruin your life in a big way, and if tinnitus gets beyond tinnitus...well...yeah it's awful.

At the end of the day, you don't wanna be like me with 30% hearing in their left ear in my mid-20s just cuz teen me was ignorant af.

I love free software! I really do; my daily workflow crucially depends on it.

Wer hat bei der eigentlich mitverhandelt? Ist da niemand auf die Idee gekommen, dass das mit dem Außenministerium einen schlechten Eindruck machen könnte?

Content isn't "free" when there are ads. The longer I work in advertising, the more this idea that content w/ads is "Free" bothers me. It's not free at all. You're paying for it with your time and attention to sponsored content, and how that content then drives you to take actions. It's not "free."

^^^ this is what Freifunk could have been if it hadn't been hijacked by the "you can connect to the Internet for free" mindset.

I am glad Mazi exists, and will definitely run a few nodes.

In the Munich airport, I asked the attendants at the full-body scanner if I could avoid the scanner and do a manual check. They accepted immediately without any hesitation and performed a good old-fashioned body check. The guy asked me why don't I trust the full body scanner, and I said I don't know where will the data end up (thanks to @mk). He nodded while saying that he himself cannot give a definitive answer to this question. Overall, I'm very happy that I tried :)

I swear one day I will order a bunch of cheap headphones to carry with me at all times and give them away to people playing video/audio on their e-devices in public spaces.

@deshipu @cypnk I'd say it's a leadership problem.
Most of the software developers are working for companies right now. Most of them are not interested on the end user: they are interested on profit.
And the developers just do what the companies ask them to do.
It's sad but it's true.

Once there are resources and a strong leadership towards a more human-centered design it will happen. I have no doubt on that.

The key is that the devs have a lot of power but they (we) are wasting it in shit.
