Plan for now:
Figure out this error that google cannot find a solution for.
linux lilo Warning: BIOS drive 0x82 may not be accessible
Not sure it matters, but this happened when I re-install #Slackware on a flash drive for a 32-bit machine.
No, but I've seen other similar post there. The odd thing is that I had it working before. At boot it just goes to a flashing cursor, not even getting to Lilo.
@archer72
Oh that's weird. I've had that happen when I misconfigured LiLo, but if you're getting a BIOS warning, I am not sure that it's a LiLo problem. What computer is it?

HP Pavilion a250n
@archer72
Oh that's a pentium machine! You shouldn't have any problems with it... so did you say this happened on a fresh install? Because that is extra weird if so... that might require help from AlienBob or the Benevolent Dictator himself!
@archer72
Did you recently install a new harddrive? I was just reading an Intel log about exceeding the maximum HDD capacity for the old BIOSes.
I have not. It has just one hard drive. I do the install to a USB thumb drive and boot from there. This makes it easier to try another distro on it.
@archer72
Well... that's just weird. I'm sorry. I wish I could help more.
Not to worry. It gives me an excuse to put 32 bit Porteus on another flash drive. I already have the 64 bit version to rescue my laptop if needed.
@archer72
Have you asked it on Linux Questions?
