Just took 2 hours to record and edit a basic VR demo, my god how do the youtubers do it

Coal, Oil, & Gas != Energy

Extracting != Producing

No you are fucking not producing barrels of oil, and you're not an 'energy' company either.

I have just read up on the Kincade Fire: PG&E has shut off power for 1.5 million people in Bay Area, 180.000 are getting evacuated.

California PG&E rolling power outages sad to hear about. Seems to feed into the 'rich own diesel generators' spiral, with some silicon valley greenwashing flavor. Public electric utilities were one of the triumphs of post wwII. Not perfect but at least more egalitarian than the microgrid enclaves of the future.

now fully completed their paywalling efforts. The public page's now completely inaccessible without logging in.

Unsuspecting visitors to Medium's now can't them unless they lock themselves into the platform.

The ability to search for new written by independent creators? Gone! The goal's to usurp content created by others free of charge to make you pay the centralized platform to access it.

Anyhow seems like it's doing more or less fine, except for the aforementioned 13% Nazi vote. And the hard stigmatizing leading to a europe-leading drug overdose fatality rate. And maybe that container of black market hand grenades imported following the Balkan war. Come to speak of it, the 'raggare' classic American car culture is shitty too.

Other than that, it's pretty nice!

Searching for hashtag to pad my timeline just turned up a lot of bigoted talking points. It's interesting how a wee country of 10m is pushed so hard as a symbol by the international / US propaganda shops.

Supporting the SD homegrown Nazis I guess?

IMHO Wallace-Wells is spot on on the popularity of stranded polar bears and bee deaths as parables for climate change: The look elsewhere, as if we stood outside. Pathetical fallacy, feeling their pain instead of our responsibility. Adopt a posture of powerlessness.

kickstarter boldly declares "fuck you" to union organizers

> It says, in essence: drop dead. We do not care what you think. We do not want a union and we are going to try to stop one from forming. We will fire union organizers if we want to, and if they complain to the National Labor Relations Board, they will be facing our lawyers.

You would think in the city of the first hydroelectric power station where the electric motor was invented would get excited about an electrified future but instead we have fucking raggare cruising the streets in gas spewing american muscle cars

in little Västerås had about 200 out, felt nice to try and understand speeches in Swedish. As one local schoolteacher among the organizers noted though, there were very few teenagers, kids only there with their parents. And it seemed more like a 20th century gathering, not new or exciting. Gotta figure out some better tactics.

May I suggest the two best ways to celebrate Stanislav Petrov day are A: Declining to follow procedures that would launch nuclear weapons for spurious reasons, and B: looking for opportunities to do something good when not doing good would be easy. It's too late to thank him in person (he died in 2017), it's not too late to do good.

Highly recommend Robert Evans' podcast 'Behind the Bastards'. The special series on history and resurgence of white fascism is explaining a lot of US history I never knew of.
