Cheap laptop recommendations that can replace my garbage 2 year old 150 dollar chromebook. GO
@patic Isn't Lenovo a sketch balls company that puts adware in their laptops?
@PoliticalVoyeur Sort of. I did a clean install of Windows and avoided downloading their proprietary software.
@PoliticalVoyeur A slightly newer crap Chromebook? What do you want to do with it?
@LibertyBeta Shitpost, email, slack, stream video. Nothing fancy, I just want longevity. Something that doesn't need to be restarted because its bugging out once a day.
@PoliticalVoyeur Then a HP stream with sone *nix distro.
@PoliticalVoyeur what's your budget for "cheap" and what do you plan to do with it?
@r4v5
300 max, and basic web services like streaming, social media, would like security for work reasons
@PoliticalVoyeur #thinkpad are really well built and last a long while. They play nice with upgrades. You can get cheap ones as companies buy them in bulk and let them go after a few years. Even a single generation old thinkpad, say from the 2015s, would see a massive drop in price. Even if it's brand new.
@ashkumar Thanks for the tip!
@PoliticalVoyeur I bought a lower-spec Lenovo IdeaPad at a pawnshop for around $200. It does the job!
