Why would they do this, what do you think I'm buying Sour Patch Kids for

Candy

@Louisa

my heart was already broken when they withdrew Altoid Sours

Candy

@Fredhead in my day I ate Lemonheads until my tongue dissolved

Candy

@Louisa wait, I just ate a bunch of sour patch kids and they weren't so sour. Maybe I ate these kind?

Candy

@InternetEh I don't know who this is for! Who was asking for this

Candy

@Louisa

I frequently think about how jalapeno peppers became popular in the 90s as a delightful spicy boi for home cooking, but people didn't actually like how hot they were so they've all been bred to become less spicy over the years.

a real parable for the strangeness of marketing and capitalism and all that.

Candy

@cicatriz_jdr @Louisa chain restaurants deliberately mark some items as spicy on their menus with the little fire or chili symbols next to them while not making them spicy at all because their market research says customers like to say they like spicy foods and they like to order spicy foods but they don't actually want their food to be spicy

Candy

@Louisa @cicatriz_jdr ordering the chili symbol menu items for clout

Candy

@Taweret @Louisa @cicatriz_jdr love that the entire economy is predicated on customer ego inflation, the mark of a healthy system

Candy

@Louisa with the sour removed they are merely patch kids

Patch kids are also known as software administrators

And sysadmins are usually bitter rather than sour

I do not like this, but it tracks

Candy

@Louisa I just don’t understand why they would do this!

Candy

@witchfynder_finder to balance it out they should give us extra sour!
