Anyone acting surprised hasn't been paying attention. This outcome has been obvious, predictable, and inevitable since November 8, 2016.

This isn't just about abortion and women's rights. Gay rights, racial minority rights, trans rights, right to privacy, all unenumerated rights. Lawrence v Texas, Griswold v CT, Loving v VA, Obergefell v Hodges... They're all targets.

@atomicpoet I would disagree that government regulation constitutes control.

Your whole argument is about collective ownership and the actual ownership control central to capitalism. It's a fine argument, but it's just not about socialism. Arguing that all corporations are actually controlled by a single entity, the government, kind of contradicts your point.

@atomicpoet This is only true if the corporations are worker-controlled, which can be the case. The hallmark of socialism is worker control of means of production.

Media criticism, this will probably upset Doctor Who fans.

@Anarkat This is regularly commented upon in-universe, including how much she messes things up, the arrogance of calling themselves "Time Lords", etc.

#RightToRepair will become an absolute necessity in the near future. Having all the supply chain completely fucked up and prices all over increasing like never before, people will need to learn how to do stuff themselves instead of pulling a credit card.

:boost_ok: :ablobcatwave: Please boost this post if you would like the EFF to join the fediverse. :ablobcatbongo:

In a survey the EFF sent me, I suggested they create an account on the fediverse, so they can reach more supporters and support innovative free software that promotes interoperability among platforms, something they've advocated for in the past, too.

If you can boost this post, maybe I'll be able to show them that there are quite a few users who would like them here!

The EFF is the infamous nonprofit organisation that fights for privacy, government transparency, and digital freedom. Their fight is very important, and the EFF is very special to me.

You can see some of their work here

In the meantime, you can follow @eff, which is an unofficial mirror of their Twitter.

@clarissawam Fun fact: I, too, am a returner (from '17, though, not '18) and found you from your comments in that thread. I'm looking for people who are actually active now. The people I followed half a decade ago have moved accounts half a dozen times and/or have been inactive for 3-5 years.

@guinan Did you purge accounts at some point in the last... five years? I had an RP account that I left dormant, but I can't seem to log in now.

I've been telling people the time is nigh to flee birdsite to a , alternative. I figure I should walk the walk.

I got very into five years ago, then abandoned it around the time the instance where I had my primary account went offline.

Now I'm back, y'all!
