Four a.m.

Daughter has decided it is time to play.

Whee?

So, up since 4am!

Not counting a short nap around 8.

Daughter and I did puzzles, ate apples and eggs and milk and pears.

She is now at preschool. I've mopped half the flat and put a load of laundry on. Broke the no-housework rule, because that's what rules are for: breaking.

Tooted. Now time for some e-mailing and maybe a lil' bit of code before picking up the quite probably exhausted bambina.

Going to sleep with the daughter last night at 21.30 was totally the right move. Also, naps ftw.

Guilty of moderately bad parenting right now, because tired.

I'm letting my daughter watch rather more Youtube than usual while I decompress a bit. It's been a long day.

And yes, I'm aware some stuff on there is not kid friendly. I'm listening in. I said moderately bad, not wilfully negligent.

Wracked by guilt, I make amends with a just-before-bed Daft Punk dance session.

Daughter's got the moves.

I may have just decided to become a morning person.

If I go to bed at the same time as my daughter, I can legit wake up at 5 am and be productive for hours before anyone needs my attention.

Trying to get anything done AFTER sleep routine has never worked.

Shit.

I'm going to have an identity crisis now. Maybe a mid-life crisis will follow. Wave if you see me zooming by in my neon yellow sports car...

Coffee with cream and honey.

Jinja2 templates shelling out to perl and bash with side-effects.

Oh yes.

Today was another 6am day. I think I can do this!

It's weird, it almost feels like the days are back to their normal length - I can actually get stuff done.

Hacked a bit, then prepped & took daughter to school, gave wife coffee and kisses, hacked a whole bunch more, ate, swam 600m, hung laundry, back to hacking...

Dammit, daughter is on to me. Now she also wants to get up at 6am.
