If you wear contacts, and your glasses don't match your current prescription because you "never wear them," and you work with computers all day... you should get your glasses updated.
Spending most week not quite able to focus on my screens because I scratched my cornea is really difficult. I literally cannot focus on these words with my right eye. I never really considered that I'd have to work all day for several days in these glasses.
Realized that Enigma's "Sadeness" hit the radio 29 years ago.
It just doesn't feel that old. Nothing from the 80's and 90's feels "old" to me (mid-80's was high school for me, this is the music of my youth). I think, in part, because it doesn't change... people get visibly older, buildings get older, remodeled or torn down; brands get older and fade out or change their image, but the music is always there, just as it was the first time I heard it.
"Data-driven" infrastructure-as-code is a trap.
Don't use programmable templates and code that is 10-100x more complex than the configuration you need to maintain, so that your configuration code is more fragile than the systems it configures and you become afraid to change it, lest your lack of understanding breaks the entire production fleet. Don't replace 20 lines of configuration file with 500 lines of unmaintainable yaml+jinja. Dodge that bullet and thank me later.
Still a little freaked out by Amazon Prime and "Order within 2 hours to get by 10 PM today FREE". I mean, I live near a warehouse and AMZL will deliver, but dang... I grew up with "wait 6-8 weeks for delivery" and 2-day delivery has been like a miracle. Next-day and same-day delivery are kind of scary.
Got hit by a bunch of surprise bills this month. I'll be fine, but money is going to be very tight.
If you want to help out, Splinter Zone is still 33% off over on itchio:
That feeling when a group is giving feedback on a logo and you don't have much stake, so you keep quiet, but every iteration, the logo gets more and more cluttered and confused.
