I have come to the conclusion that ceramic tile floors are just a bad idea in any room of the house, except maybe the mud room or laundry.
Kitchen is the worst. Never put ceramic floor tile in the kitchen. I literally have a mat in front of the fridge to catch falling glass containers, lest they shatter on the inflexible floor. Inflexible even when you drop cast iron on it, and now you have to explain the crack to the landlord. (It was cracked when we moved in, sir.)
