@miramarco But "they" are the creators of that sticker pack. If you create you sticker pack, you can choose the emojis on which to show the stickers.
So as an example, I had to choose 😍 as the emoji for the 🥰 sticker in my Blobmoji sticker pack since Telegram doesn't support Emoji 11.

@C1710 I see. But I still think that the biggest issue is not the existence of the sticker per se, but the fact that it bubbled up to #2 in a list of ~90 stickers. And that is not on the sticker creators, I would say.

@miramarco But I still don't understand – maybe it's because I use a Telegram fork which is based on their completely outdated Github repo, but for it shows only stickers from packs I added to my list and as far as I can tell this is in chronological order.

Do they really show suggestions on the official client now?
Otherwise you would have to have the sticker pack containing that sticker installed not so long ago.

@miramarco So according to people using the latest (de-facto proprietary) version, there is a setting in the app to disable these suggestions (I didn't know of).
But my guess is that they simply go for popularity/usage statistics.
