@azurolu You aren't right about the specifics, but you are right that the systems are intentionally crippled to make them less creepy.
@azurolu There is a well known story about a company that figured out from womens' behavior if they were pregnant and when the baby was due and would send them related promotions for that. They had to disable it.
@Azurolu Target does that. I was reading how their predicative algorithm got too good to the point that the coupons they sent people creeped them out, now they mix the targeted ones with unrelated ones
